It's beautiful, how the writer's lured me into feeling stirrings of sympathy and empathy for Vince. On one hand the torture is unrelenting, but you'd get a glimpse, an insight to keep you plodding along. I find myself hesitating with my final judgement. the man know's the psychological triggers behind it, and shows it in all its disturbing splendor.Every time I'm certain I have a fix on who's pulling the strings or how much I loathe Vince. And all I can say is I WANT MORE!Keep in mind THIS IS A SERIES!This author is completely new to me and I found his writing style gritty and evocative and erotic a. and immediately scrambled to read this book. You were left no reason to continue caring.I finished the first book, Prisoner at 3 am. They were too dark, you never felt a connection with the villain/s or the torture was so unrelenting that all glimmer of hope was extinguished. It's been a while since I've read this type of book - mostly because they became predictable. This is dark erotica, heavy BDSM, Torment. This book is not a sweet and fuzzy romance. Now since I read both books in a row, my review's are pretty close to the same. Review 1: I just read Prisoner, and Hell and Beyond in one sitting. If you’re parenting a child with ADHD and/or its common comorbid conditions, you are bound to feel a connection to Williams’s story, because, in many ways, it’s your own. Williams focuses on what she’s learned from her experiences to shorten the learning curve for other parents. The book is a chronological account of Williams’s quest to help her son thrive despite his challenges. Williams stays true to her accessible style in Boy Without Instructions, the story of how she and her family grappled with her son “Ricochet’s” ADHD, sensory processing issues, and learning disabilities, before and after the diagnoses. Williams, aka “The ADHD Momma,” earned a name in the online ADHD community as founder of the blog “A Mom’s View of ADHD: Everyday Life with Our ADHD Kids,” an honest account of her trials, tribulations, and victories. Penny Williams is a household name to many parents of kids with ADHD, so it’s not surprising that her book, Boy Without Instructions: Surviving the Learning Curve of Parenting a Child with ADHD (#CommissionsEarned), is on its way to becoming a staple in every well-stocked ADHD home library. Boy Without Instructions (#CommissionsEarned), by Penny Williams (Grace-Everett Press, $14.95) For Jay, a retired research scientist who sees the world through a mathematician's unforgiving eyes, this return to the classroom is his "one last chance" to learn the great literature he'd neglected in his youth-and, even more, a final opportunity to more fully understand his son, a writer and classicist. When eighty-one-year-old Jay Mendelsohn decides to enroll in the undergraduate Odyssey seminar his son teaches at Bard College, the two find themselves on an adventure as profoundly emotional as it is intellectual. Shortlisted for the 2017 Baillie Gifford Prizeįrom award-winning memoirist and critic, and bestselling author of The Lost: a deeply moving tale of a father and son's transformative journey in reading-and reliving-Homer's epic masterpiece. Named a Best Book of 2017 by NPR, Library Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, and Newsday The war, which cost the lives of over 1,000 men, has left a legacy of many historical debates and controversies, from the sinking of ships such as HMS Coventry, HMS Sheffield and Sir Galahad, and the Argentinian cruiser, the Belgrano, to wider issues such as what was it like to command and fight a modern air and naval war, the biggest naval action since World War II. In these engrossing memoirs, Admiral Sandy Woodward, Task Force commander from the aircraft carrier Hermes, takes us from day one to day one hundred of the conflict from sailing through the waters of the Atlantic with hopes of a political settlement fading, and war becoming increasingly likely, to the repulse of the Argentinian navy and the daring amphibious landing at San Carlos Water. On 5 April 1982, three days after the invasion of the Falkland Islands, British armed forces were ordered to sail 8,000 miles to the South Atlantic unaware of what lay ahead of them or whether they would be committed to war with Argentina. Updated for the 30th anniversary of the Falklands War, this is the bestselling, highly-acclaimed and most famous account of the conflict, written by the commander of the British Task Force. It has been continuously evolving and perfecting itself quietly. Of course, now Cubase Pro Crack is a much more advanced, feature-packed, and beautiful music production studio. Invisible Man is not only a great triumph of storytelling and characterization it is a profound and uncompromising interpretation of the Negro's anomalous position in American society. With them he becomes involved in an amazing series of adventures, in which he is sometimes befriended but more often deceived and betrayed-as much by himself and his own illusions as by the duplicity of the blindness of others. The many people that the hero meets in the course of his wanderings are remarkably various, complex and significant. It is a book that has a great deal to say and which is destined to have a great deal said about it.Īfter a brief prologue, the story begins with a terrifying experience of the hero's high school days, moves quickly to the campus of a Southern Negro college and then to New York's Harlem, where most of the action takes place. It is a strange story, in which many extraordinary things happen, some of them shocking and brutal, some of them pitiful and touching-yet always with elements of comedy and irony and burlesque that appear in unexpected places. Ralph Elllison's Invisible Man is a monumental novel, one that can well be called an epic of modern American Negro life. Selected by the Modern Library as one of the 100 best novels of all time |
